America's Farmers: Grow Rural Education

America's Farmers Grow Rural Education is sponsored by the Monsanto Fund to help farmers positively impact their communities by supporting local school districts. The program gives farmers the opportunity to nominate a rural public school district in their community to compete for a merit-based grant of either $10,000 or $25,000 to enhance education in the areas of math and/or science. In 2013, the program was available in 1,271 counties across 39 states, and 181 grants totaling $2.3 million were given to school districts to enhance math and science programs. Since 2011, nearly $5 million has been awarded to school districts for this program. Winning school districts are eligible to apply again for another grant. The nomination period will begin again in January 2014.
